Verse of the Day
“A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.”
Proverbs 15:4 (NKJV)
A healthy tree does not produce one fruit and then stop. Season after season, it keeps giving what is planted within it. Its branches offer shade, its roots draw strength from deep places, and its fruit becomes nourishment for others. In Scripture, the “tree of life” points to life as God designed it, full, fruitful, and sustained by him.
says that a wholesome tongue is a tree of life. Your words can produce life in others. A gentle answer can calm anger. A sincere encouragement can strengthen someone who is tired. A truthful correction spoken with love can help someone turn from harm. A prayer, a blessing, an apology, or a word of hope can become fruit that keeps feeding a person long after the conversation ends.
But the same verse gives a warning: a twisted tongue breaks the spirit. Careless words, harsh criticism, gossip, mockery, and deceit can damage more deeply than you may realize. Words are not small things. They either give life or drain it. They either build faith, peace, and courage, or they leave others wounded and discouraged.
Let your tongue become fruitful before God. Ask him to heal what is bitter, rushed, proud, or careless in your speech. A wholesome tongue does not mean you never speak hard truth. It means your words are governed by wisdom, grace, and love. Today, let your speech produce life in large quantities, not only once, but again and again.

Reflection
Your words can become fruit that nourishes others. Reflect: Are your words producing life, or are they breaking the spirit of those around you? Practice: Speak one intentional word of encouragement, peace, or prayer over someone today.
