Hebrews 12:7Verse of the Day
“If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?”Hebrews 12:7 (NKJV)
Correction is not something we naturally enjoy. It can feel uncomfortable, even painful. No one likes to be told they are wrong or need to change. But this passage helps us see correction from a different perspective.
God corrects those who are His. Just like a good father disciplines his child out of love, our heavenly Father corrects us for our good. It’s not to punish or push us away—it’s to shape us, guide us, and help us grow.
In the moment, it won’t feel pleasant. It may come as conviction, a difficult lesson, or a situation that exposes something in you that needs to change. But if you respond well, it produces growth, maturity, and a life that reflects God.
The problem is, many people resist correction. They avoid it, ignore it, or become defensive. But when you reject correction, you also miss the growth that comes with it.
There is beauty in correction because of what it produces.
It trains you. It refines you. It leads you toward a life of righteousness and peace.
So instead of running from it, learn to embrace it. Let God do His work in you, even when it’s uncomfortable.
How do you usually respond to correction? Do you resist it or receive it? Ask God to give you a humble heart that accepts correction and learns from it. Pray for the grace to see His love in the process and to grow into the person He is shaping you to be.
