Proverbs 12:27Verse of the Day
“Lazy people don’t even cook the game they catch, but the diligent make use of everything they find.”Proverbs 12:27 (NLT)
Imagine going through the rigours of hunting, successfully catching an animal, and then being too lazy to prepare the meal. That is exactly what today’s verse describes.
There are a few things to note here.
First, it speaks about the inability to turn raw materials into finished products. This can apply to your God-given talents. What talent do you have that you have refused to develop? You know you are good at it. Others have said so too. Yet you have not put in the work to become excellent. Perhaps you encountered an opportunity but lacked the foresight or discipline to take advantage of it.
Second, this attitude leads to waste. The kingdom does not permit wastage. Leaving a game uncooked means it will eventually rot and become useless. In the parable of the talents, the master rebuked the servant who buried his one talent. He was told he could have at least put it in the bank to earn interest.
Third, it speaks about finishing what you start. Catching the game was the hard part. Preparing it completes the work. Constantly starting things without finishing them is a form of laziness.
Lastly, the diligent. They know how to make use of everything they find. They can spot value in rubble and do the work required to extract it. Throw lemons at them, and they make lemonade.
Today, and every day, you must choose between being lazy and being diligent.
