Matthew 6:3-4Verse of the Day
“But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.”Matthew 6:3-4 (NLT)
We live in a world where almost everything is shared. With a phone and internet access, your actions can reach people far beyond your immediate space. And with that comes the desire to be seen, noticed, and appreciated.
Even good works can become about visibility.
Helping others, giving, serving—these are good things. But when the motive shifts to gaining attention or praise, the focus is no longer right. Jesus made it clear that when you do good just to be seen, the recognition you get from people is all the reward you will receive.
Giving in secret helps you check your heart. It removes the need for applause. It keeps your focus where it should be—on the person you’re helping, not on how you will be perceived. It teaches you to serve with sincerity, not pride.
Not everything needs an audience.
And if you’ve been doing good and feel unnoticed, don’t be discouraged. God sees. Nothing escapes Him. Every act of kindness, every sacrifice, every quiet moment of giving—He sees it all.
So keep doing good, even when no one is watching. Stay faithful, even when there is no recognition. What matters most is not who sees you, but that God does.
Check your heart—what motivates your good works? Ask God to purify your intentions, to remove any desire for praise, and to help you serve with sincerity. If you’ve felt unseen, ask Him for strength to keep going, trusting that He sees and will reward you in His time.
