Proverbs 3:5-6Verse of the Day
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
A father, in an attempt to teach his son a lesson about trusting people, took him to the roof of their house and asked him to jump. He assured his son that he would catch him and not let him fall to the ground. With his arms outstretched, he beckoned the boy to jump. Reluctantly, the young boy obeyed, expecting his father to catch him. But to his shock, his loving father stepped aside, and the boy came crashing down, managing to brace himself just enough to avoid serious injury. The lesson was simple: don’t trust anybody, not even your father.
Most, if not all of us, have our own versions of life experiences that have taught us to be less trusting of people. Over time, disappointments, broken promises, and unmet expectations make us cautious. Sadly, we sometimes extend that same distrust into our relationship with God.
This often shows up in how we respond to Him. We obey, but with a partially committed heart. We say yes, but keep a backup plan just in case God doesn’t come through. Other times, we hesitate to go all in because of the silent question in our minds: what if?
But trusting God is not something we do halfway. It is all or nothing. You are either fully in, or you are not. And while it may not always feel easy or comfortable, we must learn to trust Him completely.
Thank God He has made provision for His grace to carry us. He is at work in us, both to will and to do of His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13). When we trust Him fully, we discover that He truly does direct our paths.
