Colossians 2:6-10Verse of the Day
“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”Colossians 2:7 (NLT)
Before a young tree sends visible growth upward, it first sends roots downward. Beneath the soil, where no one can see, the root system begins to spread. It searches for water, takes in nutrients, and anchors the tree against wind and changing weather. The shoot above the ground may look small, but its future depends on what is happening below the surface.
Christian growth begins with a hidden life of dependence on Jesus. It is formed through prayer, study of the Word, obedience, repentance and worship. These practices may not attract attention, but they give strength to everything that others eventually see.
The root is hidden, but it powers the shoot. In the same way, your private life with God supports your public life before people. The fruit others see, such as wisdom, patience, courage, love, self-control, and spiritual strength, grows from what has been taking place in secret. Public fruit cannot remain healthy for long without private roots.
Every strong building begins below ground level. Before walls rise and rooms take shape, a foundation must be laid. The depth and strength of that foundation help determine what kind of structure can safely stand on it. A small structure may rest on a shallow base, but a tall building requires a much deeper foundation.
The same principle applies spiritually. The weight your life can carry is connected to the depth of your foundation in Christ. Greater responsibility, influence, pressure, service, and spiritual fruit require a life firmly established in truth. God does not deepen your foundation to delay you. He does it to prepare you. He wants your life to remain standing when pressure comes.

A person may desire visible results without giving attention to hidden growth. You may want greater influence, stronger faith, answered prayer, spiritual gifts, or a life that clearly displays God’s power. Yet the Lord is often more concerned with deepening your roots before increasing what appears above the surface. He builds inward strength before entrusting outward responsibility.
A tree with shallow roots is easily affected by strong winds. A building with a weak foundation becomes unstable under pressure. A believer who is not grounded in Christ may also be easily moved. You must know God’s Word well enough to test what you hear and remain secure in what Christ has taught.
When your roots grow deep, and your life is built on Christ, your faith becomes strong, and thankfulness begins to overflow. Gratitude is one sign of a well-rooted life. When you are secure in Christ, you become less controlled by comparison, recognition, and changing circumstances. You know where your strength comes from, and your life begins to point back to Him.
Do not despise the hidden season. Do not rush the foundation. Let God establish you in His Word, deepen your prayer life, correct your thinking, and strengthen your obedience. What He builds beneath the surface will support what He chooses to reveal above it.
