Genesis 2:17 NKJVVerse of the Day
“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”Genesis 2:17 (NKJV)
The cost of disobedience is death.
Death here does not necessarily mean the cessation of human life. When you disobey, something dies. It could be trust, hope, opportunity, conscience, and so on. With continuous disobedience, death keeps chipping away at you until it results in spiritual death, which can ultimately lead to physical death.
The beautiful thing about the gospel is that God always has a restoration plan in place. Your disobedience cannot catch God unawares. So, if you have been living in disobedience and are already bearing its cost, you can enter the throne of grace and find help in your time of need. Just talk to the Father now. He is waiting for you.
