Bible Reading
Matthew 13:3-4, 19Verse of the Day
“He told many stories in the form of parables, such as this one: “Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seeds. As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate them.”Matthew 13:3-4, 19 (NKJV)
In the parable of the sower, Jesus describes three types of hearers. Over the next three days, we’ll take a look at each of them.
The first are those who do not understand what they hear. A similar scenario happened with the Ethiopian Eunuch. He didn’t understand the scriptures he was reading until God sent Philip to help him.
Understanding is important. Hearing alone is not enough. Many people listen to sermons, read the Bible, and attend church meetings, yet nothing changes. Not because the Word lacks power, but because it was never understood or received.
But there is a spirit in man: And the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
Job 32:8
Understanding God’s word beyond the letters comes by the inspiration of His Spirit living in you.
As you receive God’s word today, ask the Holy Spirit to grant you understanding.
