Romans 12:21Verse of the Day
“Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.”Romans 12:21 (NLT)
We live in a world where wickedness is becoming increasingly common. Many people are driven by selfishness and are always looking for ways to take advantage of others. Jesus described a time when lawlessness would abound, and the love of many would grow cold.
In such a world, it can feel natural to respond to wrong with more wrong. When someone hurts you, the instinct is often to repay them in the same way. But Scripture calls us to a different response.
God’s children are not meant to conform to the patterns of this world. Instead of returning evil for evil, we overcome evil by doing good. This is one of the ways our lives stand in contrast to the culture around us.
Choosing good will not always be easy. Sometimes people may misunderstand your kindness or see your restraint as weakness. You may even be tempted to respond the way others do. But God calls us to a higher way.
Darkness cannot remove darkness. It only multiplies it. Light, however, has the power to drive darkness away. As believers, we are called to be that light. Through acts of kindness, forgiveness, patience, and love, we push back against the darkness around us.
Is there a situation where you feel tempted to respond to wrong with more wrong?
Ask God to help you respond with goodness and grace. Pray for strength to shine as His light, even in a world where evil seems to be increasing.
