Luke 22:42Verse of the Day
““Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.””Luke 22:42 (NKJV)
At about this time, over 2,000 years ago, Jesus faced the reality of intense suffering and ultimately death on the cross as He journeyed to fulfil His mission on earth. Being fully human, He understood what that experience would mean, and naturally, it was not something to look forward to.
I don’t necessarily believe that He was trying to escape the assignment. God allowed it as a lesson for us. It shows that it is okay to come to the end of yourself. It is okay to feel the weight of what lies ahead and acknowledge it honestly before God.
Jesus models the right response. When you reach that point, your next step should be surrender. “Nevertheless, not My will, but Yours, be done.”
Just like Jesus, there are times when even your life’s purpose can feel heavy. There are moments when what you are called to do stretches you beyond your natural capacity. You may feel tired, uncertain, or even overwhelmed.
When you reach the end of your will, don’t stop there. Anchor yourself in the will of the Father.
Where have you reached the limit of your own strength or understanding? Talk to God honestly about it, and ask Him for the grace to surrender fully to His will.
