Matthew 5:13-16Verse of the Day
“In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”Matthew 5:13-16 (NKJV)
In Matthew 5:13–16, Jesus described you and me as salt and light, implying that we are meant to add value to the world in our own unique ways. The impact of salt and light is often most noticeable when they are absent. Without salt, food tastes bland. Without light, there is darkness. When salt loses its flavour or light refuses to shine, of what use are they?
The first thing we must recognise is that you already have the light. God has given you abilities (the light) and placed you in an environment (the lampstand) that needs that light. That is why Jesus, without mincing words, instructs us to let our light—our good works—shine for all to see.
That workplace you complain about may be the lampstand where you are meant to shine. It could be a corrupt neighbourhood, a destabilised family, or a dishonest business environment. That is your lampstand. Let your light shine so that the Father may be glorified.

Reflection
Pause and reflect. Do you know the light you carry? How can you let it shine brighter? What will you do today to make your light shine?
