Matthew 16:25Verse of the Day
“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for My sake will find it.”Matthew 16:25 (NKJV)
A little boy stood in a shop, clutching a handful of small candies he had picked for himself. The shop owner smiled and offered him a large chocolate bar, but asked him to drop the candies first. The boy hesitated. He tightened his grip and shook his head. He was afraid that if he let go of what he already had, he might end up with nothing. Eventually, his mother gently opened his hand so he could receive the bigger gift. What he feared losing was nothing compared to what he was about to gain.
This is how God’s kingdom works. Human wisdom tells us to hold on tightly while pursuing more. Protect what you have. Continue to accumulate. Secure the bag. But God’s equation is different. In His kingdom, you often lose to get.
Jesus says that whoever tries to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for His sake will find it. There is one who scatters and yet increases, and another who withholds more than is necessary and ends up lacking. What looks like wisdom in the natural can be foolishness in the spiritual.
God is not trying to take from you. He is trying to free your hands. What He wants to give you is always superior to whatever he’s asking you to give up.

Pause and reflect. What are you holding on to out of fear? Trust God’s math. When He asks you to let go, it is because something better is coming.
