Colossians 3:12-13Verse of the Day
“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.”Colossians 3:12-13 (NKJV)
In relationships, offences are almost inevitable. People will misunderstand you. Some will disappoint you. Others may hurt you deeply. As long as we live and interact with people, there will always be opportunities to be offended.
This is why we’re encouraged to bear with one another and forgive. Forgiveness is not just a suggestion for believers. It is part of the life we are called to live. It is a command.
The standard for our forgiveness is clear: as God forgave you, so you also must do. When we think about how much God has forgiven us, it changes how we respond to others. We did not earn His forgiveness, yet He gave it freely through Christ.
Holding on to offence may feel justified, but it weighs down the heart. It keeps wounds fresh and allows bitterness to take root. Forgiveness, on the other hand, releases the burden. It frees your heart and allows healing to begin.
Today is a reminder to put on kindness, humility, and patience. Where there is offence, choose forgiveness. Just as Christ forgave you, extend that same grace to others.
Is there someone you need to forgive today?
Ask God to soften your heart and give you the grace to release every offence. Pray for the strength to forgive as Christ has forgiven you.
